Course Goals:

  • To develop the ability to speak and write effectively concerning architectural concepts.

  • To develop the ability to employ basic methods of data collection and analysis to inform the programming and design process.

  • To develop the ability to make a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of a building.

  • To develop the ability to provide a coherent rationale for the programmatic and formal precedents employed in the conceptualization and development of architecture.

  • To develop the ability to integrate site constraints into the development of the program and the design of the project.

  • To learn to work with members of a design team through progressive project contexts.

Course Goals:

  • To learn about residential design by reviewing phenomenology, planning, and practice issues.

  • To develop the ability to apply basic organizational, spatial and structural, principles to the conception and development of interior and exterior spaces, building elements, and components.

  • To develop the ability to integrate site constraints and placemaking goals into the development of the program and the design of the project.

  • To develop outline specification and cost projections

  • To make a professional presentation using drawings, models, and other media to present and explain the design.
