I have been actively pursuing genealogy since 1997 and am a
member of the New
England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS), the General Society of
Mayflower
Descendants, the Sons of the American
Revolution (SAR) and have served for many years as the Registrar
(lineage application reviewer) of the Long Island Chapter of
the
Empire (NY) State Society of the SAR. I also hold dual
citizenship (Irish/EU) as the result of my genealogical research
through my mother's side. I am an Architect and Professor in the Department of Architecture
& Construction Management at the State
University of New York at
Farmingdale (see: Curriculum
Vitae). I am active in the community and have served as an Elder
and Deacon at the Setauket
Presbyterian
Church. I live in Stony Brook, New York, with my
wife Jennifer Anne (8th cousin) and two children, Alexander Sargent and
Catherine
McDaid. When I'm not goofing off doing genealogy, I enjoy
cruising on my
sailboat from the Setauket Yacht
Club (Commodore '93) in Port Jefferson to places like the
Connecticut River, Shelter Island, Block Island, Newport
RI and
Martha's Vineyard; or more likely helping with homework, driving the
kids to something, working on a research project or paper... etc.
